Ask Specsight is an in-product chat over your project. Ask a question in plain language — "What changed in the last release?", "How does the upload limit behave?", "Which features have the most error scenarios?" — and Specsight answers from your living spec.
Every answer is grounded in your features, scenarios, changelog, and reports. When the spec does not cover what you asked, Specsight says so rather than guess.
Two ways to ask
There are two surfaces, and they answer different kinds of question.
Project Ask
Project Ask answers about one project. Answers stream in as Specsight reads the spec, with numbered sources inline. Click a source to open the exact scenario, feature, report, or annotation it drew on.
Structured answers come back as cards, not walls of text — a feature map, a Context, Action, Outcome table of scenarios, what changed over a window, or a report. Each card links into the spec.
Specsight Help
Specsight Help answers how to use the product itself — billing, members, plans, MCP setup, what a feature map or report is. It is project-agnostic: open it from the Help button in the dashboard top bar. Answers come from these help articles, with links back to the full guide.
For Admins, Help also answers questions about your account — your plan, when it renews, how many members you have. Non-Admins do not see account answers, the same as the Billing and People pages.
How to ask
Three ways to start a question:
- The Ask Specsight anything bar at the top of the project home
- The Ask tab in the project rail on the left
- ⌘K (Ctrl-K on Windows) from anywhere in the dashboard — on a project it opens Project Ask, off a project it opens Specsight Help
Threads
Each conversation is a thread, listed in the Ask sidebar. From the actions menu on a thread you can:
- Pin it to keep it at the top of the list
- Rename it
- Export it as a Markdown file
- Delete it
Limits
Each plan includes a daily question cap. The Standard plan covers 50 questions a day; BYOK is unlimited; Partnership covers 200. See plans and limits for the full table.
Specsight-paid plans (Standard and Partnership) also have a monthly fair-use cap on total Ask usage — most teams never reach it, and if you do, email us and we’ll raise it.
Privacy
To compose an answer, Specsight sends your question, the conversation so far, and the relevant context — parts of your spec for Project Ask, or your account state for Help — to Anthropic's Claude. Conversations are stored so you can reopen, pin, rename, and export them. Anthropic does not use this input to train its models. Full detail in the privacy policy.
