A change report is a snapshot of how a project’s spec evolved between two dates. Use it for stakeholder updates, weekly digests, or customer-facing release notes. Each report has two views: Release notes is a short narrative written by Specsight; Changes lists every changed scenario grouped by feature, with before-and-after Context, Action, Outcome.
Generate a report
- Open a project and click Reports in the rail
- Click Generate report
- Pick a preset — Last 7 days, Last 14 days, or Last 30 days — or set a custom From and To
- Click Generate
The report appears in the list with a Generating… pill while Specsight replays the changelog and writes the notes. When it flips to Ready, you get an in-app notification and an email — turn the email off in account notifications.
Schedule a digest
Have Specsight generate reports on a cadence instead of on demand. From the Reports page, click Set schedule in the digest banner.
- Cadence — Weekly (covers the last 7 days) or Monthly (covers the last month)
- On or Day of month — the day of the week (weekly) or the day of the month (monthly) the digest fires on
- At — the hour Specsight kicks off generation
- Timezone — the timezone for that hour
- Auto-publish public link — every scheduled report ships with a public share link already generated
- Notify members in app — every member gets an in-app notification when a scheduled report is ready
Once live, the banner shows the next fire time. You can Edit schedule, Pause it, or Remove it from the same place. Scheduled reports are tagged Auto in the list and show the Specsight mark in place of an author.
Statuses
- Pending — queued
- Generating… — Specsight is replaying the changelog and writing the notes
- Ready — open the report to read it
- Failed — open the report to see the error and generate a new one with the same range
If you re-analyse a project, existing reports keep their numbers but pick up a stale badge in the list and a banner on the detail page. Generate a new report for an up-to-date view.
Share and download
Open a report and use the toolbar. Click Share to open the popover, then Generate link to mint a public URL that loads the Release notes view only — no Specsight account needed. The Changes view stays internal. Once the link exists, the button label switches to Public; reopen the popover to copy the URL or Revoke link.
Download PDF exports the Release notes view as a branded PDF. The Changes view is not included.
Find a report
The Reports page lists every report for the project, newest first. Search by title, or filter with the chips — All, Manual, Auto, Public.
