May digest: pricing rework and the redesign release
23 Apr 2026 – 16 May 2026·by Specsight
The largest release window since the original launch. The plan structure was rebuilt around three self-serve tiers paired with a scheduled-lock model, and every product surface was redesigned alongside.
What's new
·Three self-serve plans — Standard (Specsight covers the AI cost), BYOK (bring your own AI key), and a Partnership tier opened via grant links.
·Scheduled-lock workflow — an organisation that lapses on payment enters a ninety-day window to recover before data is purged, with a clear countdown surfaced on the billing page.
·Partnership grant flow — new users arriving via a grant link skip the plan and payment steps; the partnership tier applies automatically.
·Locked-organisation state — a team that has lapsed shows a read-only banner everywhere with a path to reactivate.
What's changed
·The billing page leads with the current plan name, its price, and the next billing date, with any scheduled lock surfaced prominently.
·Onboarding's plan step reflects the new tiers — Standard, BYOK, or Partnership replace the previous Free and Pro choices.
·Project creation now checks the repository size against the chosen plan up front, so an over-limit project is blocked at creation rather than failing later in analysis.
·The AI-tools sign-in flow now accepts ephemeral loopback addresses, so desktop assistants binding to a random local port complete the consent without falling back to keys.
·The onboarding flow, dashboard, spec view, reports, exports, sign-in pages, and transactional emails were rebuilt around a refreshed visual language — behaviour stays the same; the surfaces read cleaner.
·Mobile navigation, the dashboard tabs, and the Feedback flow now share the touch experience with the desktop refresh.
What's gone
·The Free plan and its onboarding path are retired; new teams pick Standard or BYOK, or arrive on a partnership grant link.
·Pro-plan-specific flows are gone — adding seats and downgrading back to Free no longer apply, since the seat-and-tier model has been replaced by per-organisation plans.
·The free-trial countdown banner across the dashboard is retired; the new plan structure has no trial window.
